Taba is the smallest town in the Egypt peninsula. It is an International border crossing between Taba, Egypt, Eliat and Israel. Development is occurring only around the ‘border crossing’. The city is filled with an impressive range of stones and is the center for Red Sea diving. The interesting view of the city is ‘Castle Zaman’, where you can see the four countries at a glance. Taba has bordered by Israel & Jordan in left and Saudi Arabia on right. The population of the town is approximately 700 people and the currency is the Egyptian pounds.

Tourist Attractions

You can arrive to this place via Egypt, Eliat or Israel. The Egyptian side border crossing is well developed, however the crossing traffic is less than the staff working at that place. This border is limited to one kilometer and has two giant resorts Hilton and the Movenpick. ‘Taba Museum’ is located nearby the bus station that has the collection of historic items and arts. There is a rocky beach behind the bus station, with crystal clear water. ‘Casino’ at the Hilton resort hotel is one of the reasons behind Taba’s presence. Also, you will be taken to Mount Sinai and Petra (Jordan) by the local tour operators. The most imperious part of the town is ‘Castle Zaman’. This has an amazing mountain view of four countries. Also, there is an ancient road connection to St. Catherine's Monastery with Jerusalem, which offers exquisite and delicious cuisines.

Shopping Dining & Nightlife

You can’t shop much in Taba, only locally made crafts like rugs, paintings, Egyptian souvenirs and silver are found in the uptown areas.

The town offers an exquisite and a different kind of cuisines. Along with the international tastes, you will be offered a speciality local style of culinary. Slowly prepared cuisines are delicious and mostly loved by all the tourists. In the uptown areas a weekly street festival with live entertainment will be held from March to November.

Festivals & Seasons

Ramadan and Eid are the major festivals celebrated in the town. Tourists can plan to spend the holy month here. Muslims will fast since sun rise to sun set and leave the fast with an evening prayer. After one month of fasting, they celebrate Eid al Fitr with great joy. Along with these festivals, local hotels will arrange few street festivals based on the tourist traffic. In Taba, Friday Street Festival, Three Corners’ street party are few commonly celebrated festivals.

Transportation within the City

Cars, taxies, buses are the modes of transport in the city. From Taba there is a wide range of big tour busses that shuttles the tourists to various places in the Egypt. The bus complex is located about 1 km away from the border.
